Well, I finally got round to seeing Religulous last night with Rhonda. What I liked most about it was the questions that Maher asked. No nonsense, straight to the point. Sure, there were times when little clips were thrown in to ridicule what was being said by those interviewed, but it mirrored what I myself was thinking at the time anyway.

I think the most ridiculous position was that of Dr. Francis Collins. The gospels are ALMOST eyewitness testimony? What the hell does that mean? Either they are eyewitness testimony or they are not. There is no statute of limitations here. And to claim that Maher was creating an impossible standard of evidence was even more ridiculous. All Maher was doing was creating a reasonable standard of evidence that would not meet that in Collins' own profession. If Christianity can not meet a reasonable standard of evidence that is not Maher's fault. My own standard is much higher. Shame on Dr. Collins!

Oddly, it was the Catholic interviewees that made the most sense of all of them. Particularly the guy Maher interviewed outside the Vatican. I liked him, but then if he feels that the bible is just a bunch of stories, why believe in it? That was one question I would have like asked.

My brother and his wife went to see it this weekend and quite enjoyed it. Movies like this are always preaching to the converted. What Believer is going to go see it? They are far too insecure for that.
